The Storeys

The Storeys

Its name is full of meaning since this house is like a store of my story. The renovation idea came up just because we need to avoid flooding and rats who peek into a couple rooms without invitation through  few hidden holes because this house is 40 years old and start broken.

Two area of renovation, office space and new kitchen. The office was a Ping-Pong room where my dad scarified this space for a new green table after he found playing few times at the open garage does not work. The kitchen was small and belong to my mom until she passed away.

Simply white is the idea, as white is my obsessive element. White is not a color but could be a magic tool, hidden appearance, etc. The office planning is very simple, working space ,pin board and storage. I lay them out consequency along the 15X5 m room.  15 m.X 40 cm width storage behind 15m length pin board. Mixed style loosing furniture is our 40-year family collection. They sit over white space from floor all the way through ceiling. Expose electricity line and ceiling to be lightly touch the old wall and finishing. They are witnesses of the 40-year story.

The 1-storey kitchen combine to 2 existing storages. I add mezzanine floor storage, a home for my sister’s 40 luggages with Le Corbusier’s ladder. She still learn to climb up with the right steps. Recycle iron bar become hanging shelves, trellis at terrace.

2 Sunny toilets with random chess board pattern. I love a lot of natural sun light in toilet. It helps killing bacteria and play with my white fantastically.
